After receiving notice that WSCO received additional HEERF emergency funds from the American Rescue Plan, WSCO made the decision to assist students with these funds in two ways. First, students could request emergency funds for personal expenses, technology, transportation and course materials. These awards were given in amounts of $500 based on applications. All students were invited to apply. Second, we opened an application specifically allowing students to request these funds to help with tuition and fees. In an effort to assist as many students as possible, we limited the tuition and fee awards to 15 credits of tuition and the fees the student was charged. The application for tuition and fee assistance is being referred to as the Community Impact Grant. As of July 4th, an additional $25,000 in emergency grants and 105,700.75 in tuition and fee assistance have been awarded. This brings the total amount of Higher Education Emergency Relief grants given to students to $670,796.75. Students impacted by these grants now total 497.

In an effort to assist students with the additional expenses incurred due to changes in delivery of courses, WSCO re-opened the Emergency Fund Application to 294 Title IV eligible students whose courses for the Spring 2021 semester were moved to remote delivery the first 8 weeks of the course. The 294 eligible students were notified by email and received a text notification to check their emails for application details.
