MARIETTA, OHIO (February 14, 2019)— The nursing advocacy organization RegisteredNursing.org ranked the Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) Associate Degree Nursing Program (ADN) fifth out of 94 RN programs in the state of Ohio. The 2019 nursing school ranking conducted by the organization considers multiple program areas that affect student success, including first-time NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses) pass rates that lead to student licensure.
The third-annual analysis, published earlier this month, provides a state-by-state ranking of nursing programs. WSCO has consistently ranked among the top ten schools for nursing, placing eighth in 2017 and seventh in 2018.
WSCO’s ADN program, approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing, has a long history of excellence in nursing education with a current NCLEX-RN of 100% with a 100% job-placement record. Pass rates for the last five years rank 9% higher than the national average and nearly 12% higher than state averages.

The college offered three pipelines for students interested in a nursing career, the Traditional and Advanced ADN options, and the Education Advancement to Registered Nurse (EARN) Pathway. The Traditional ADN Program at WSCO follows a more traditional model while the Advanced ADN Program is designed for applicants who are already a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
The EARN Pathway, introduced in Fall 2018 through grant funding from the Bernard McDonough Foundation, is designed to provide a guided pathway to an ADN. The unique option gives accepted students one-on-one support with a dedicated faculty success coach as they complete general education requirements. It stands apart from other ADN programs by allowing pathway participants to complete general education and placement testing requirements while currently accepted as an ADN student. Once all prerequisites are successfully complete, pathway students seamlessly transition into Practical Nursing (PN) courses, followed by the ADN program without completing additional applications or waiting for acceptance.
The application deadline for Fall 2019 acceptance into the Associate Degree Nursing Traditional program is February 15, 2019, with applications for the ADN Advanced Placement program due by September 20, 2019. The EARN Pathway accepts applicants on a first-come, first-served basis though spots are limited.
