MARIETTA, OHIO (March 19, 2019)–The Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series at Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) in collaboration with the Schwendeman Agency, Inc. announce an upcoming presentation of “An Evening of Bluegrass” with the band Almost Famous. This event is sponsored in part by the Ohio Art Council.
Almost Famous will perform on Saturday, April 6, at 7:30 pm in Graham Auditorium on the campus of WSCO. Admission is free and will not require tickets or reservations, however, seating will be on a first come, first serve basis. Doors will open at 7 pm.
Almost Famous launched in 2004 by original members Steven Moore and Ryan Abercrombie and has transformed over the years while their music has continued to grow and mature. Lyrically, the group focuses on themes relating to subsistence, sustainability, and quality of life, with a sound characterized by three-part vocal harmonies and complex polyrhythmic banjo playing.
Members of Almost Famous are: Harold Dailey (bassist and founder of the world-famous Pennyroyal Opera House); Micah Fuchs (public educator and mandolin extraordinaire); Brendyn Herald (high school student and up-and-coming fiddler in the world of bluegrass); Joshua Hetrick (preacher, roofer, and guitar extraordinaire); Steven Moore (two-time National Bluegrass Banjo Champion, Rockygrass Banjo Champion, Renofest (South Carolina State) Banjo Champion, Merlefest Banjo Champion, Maryland State Banjo Champion, North Carolina State Banjo Champion, and Freshgrass Banjo Champion).
