MARIETTA—Governor Mike DeWine has announced the appointment of a new member to Washington State College of Ohio’s (WSCO) Board of Trustees as well as the renewal of two standing members.
Dr. Joseph Zacharias, Medical Director of Hospital Medicine at Marietta Memorial Hospital, will be installed during the September meeting as the newest member of the board of trustees.
The governor also reappointed Randall Barengo and Bernie Anderson.
Barengo has served as a trustee since April 2011. During his tenure, he has served in various roles including chairman and of the Board as well as multiple committees throughout his term.
Anderson was appointed in February 2017. As a trustee he served as chairman during the pandemic.
“Washington State is fortunate to have an incredible group of forward-thinking leaders,” said WSCO President Dr. Vicky Wood. “I value their leadership and commitment to the college as well as our community. Moreover, I appreciate their support of the transformational changes we’ve made here at Washington State as we’ve shifted our mission from a two-year college to a baccalaureate degree-granting institution.”
The WSCO Board of Trustees is comprised of electors who reside in Washington or Morgan counties. The current board includes David Vandenberg, chair; Tyler Wilcox, vice chair; Jodey L. Altier; Bernie Anderson; Randy Barengo; Cinda Erickson; LeeAnn Johnson; and Susan Vessels.
The Trustees work together to ensure the college maintains its commitment to the community as a high-quality academic institution whose purpose is to educate the next generation of professionals and leaders. The decisions and actions of the trustees are always in line with the school’s mission to be responsive to the education and workforce needs of our community by providing dynamic and affordable degree and certificate programs in an atmosphere that promotes student success.
