MARIETTA, OH (August 29, 2017)— The Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series at Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) announces a concert with Johnny Staats and the Delivery Boys. The performance will be presented in collaboration with the Washington State Foundation and the Schwendeman Agency, Inc.
On Saturday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 pm, Johnny Staats and the Delivery Boys will present “A Night of Bluegrass”. The concert will be held in Graham Auditorium of the Arts & Sciences building on the campus of WSCO. Admission will be free, but please be mindful that seating is limited.
Staats received worldwide attention with his debut album release Wires and Wood in 2000. His mandolin style drew the respect of bluegrass legends John Cowan, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Tim O’Brien, Sara Evans, and Kathy Mattea which resulted in all playing on the album. Feature stories in The New York Times, People, and USA Today, along with appearances on the Today show and CBS News with Dan Rather followed. He also made six appearances on the Grand Ole Opry. His follow-up albums, Wound For Sound and Time Moves On, continue to showcase his unique writing and mandolin talent. But as a dedicated full-time driver for UPS, the Sandyville, WV native continues to work his day job year round.
In addition to Staats, The Delivery Boys include Butch Osborne on banjo, Davey Vaughn on bass guitar and vocals, Ray Cossin on fiddle, and Doug Cossin on acoustic guitar and vocals.
