MARIETTA, OHIO (May 17, 2018)–Laurie Strahler, owner and operator of McDonald’s of Marietta, recently established the Betty Hadler Memorial Scholarship at Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO).
Working with the WSCO Foundation, Strahler established the scholarship in memory of her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” L. Hadler, who owned and operated McDonald’s of Marietta for 17 years. Until her death from bone cancer in 1993, Hadler was an active member of the community. Among her accomplishments, she was Chair of the Board of Directors for the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce and was the first recipient of its Person of the Year Award. She was also a member and President of ZONTA International where the Woman of the Year Award is presented in her honor.
With this donation, Strahler is perpetuating her mother’s strong belief that the greatest success is helping others succeed. Through cash and pledges, Strahler will contribute $10,000 to support the scholarship fund.
The Betty Hadler Memorial Scholarship will be award annually to two Washington County students who exhibit the qualities of the entrepreneurial spirit and has career aspirations of owning and operating their own business. In fact, the first scholarships were recently awarded during the WSCO Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Reception and Awards Ceremony to Brittany Daugherty and Aaron Moore.
