MARIETTA, OHIO—Washington State College of Ohio’s chapter of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recently held its induction ceremony and welcomed 32 new members.
The new members of the college’s PTK chapter, Alpha Rho Gamma, include: Kia Allen, Peyton Amrine, William Borling, Patrick Casino, Morgan Dyar, Kassandra Erb, Claire Erdelyi, Ethan Gault, Keara Haas, David Harr, Aidan Herb, Stacy Jarvis, Nathan Johnson, Seth Jones, Rhiannon Loane, Megan Mestuzzi, Seth Miller, Sherry Miller, Loralen Morgan, Kristen Pfaff, Christie Piersol, Natosha Roberson, Candice Runnion, Alexandra Sanderson, David Scheimann, Mackenzie Smith, Albreah Triplett, Shelby Wagner, Hope Weber, Airika West, Elyssa Williams, and Sabrina Woodfin.
As part of the ceremony, new members were asked to contribute to the chapter’s supply drive for EVE, Inc., the local shelter for victims of family violence. This ongoing collection began at the Ohio Region Honors in Action Conference hosted on campus in August.
Earlier this year, Alpha Rho Gamma received Five Star Status. This is the highest distinction awarded to a PTK Chapter and a status they’ve maintained for the last 10 years. The chapter was also recognized at the PTK Catalyst 2021 International Convention Hallmark Awards ceremony with the receipt of the Hallmark Award for its college project, Feeding the Hungry.
The international honor society PTK is one of the most prestigious of its kind amongst two-year colleges and academic programs. It is the official honor society for two-year colleges with more than 3.5 million members in the US and 10 sovereign nations. The organization recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. Memberships are extended to students who complete at least 12 credit hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5.
