MARIETTA, Ohio (May 8, 2017) –Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) is pleased to announce its 2016-2017 graduating class. The college will recognize more than 200 students who will receive degrees from Arts and Sciences; Health and Wellness; Business Technologies; and Engineering and Industrial Technologies and Public Services. Pinning and commencement ceremonies will take place throughout the week beginning May 9 and will conclude with WSCO’s official commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 13 in Graham Auditorium. This year, in addition to marking its 45th anniversary, the college will also celebrate its 10,000th graduate.
Saturday’s ceremonies will include an address from The Honorable Judge Mark Kerenyi and WSCO’s Distinguished Alumni. This year’s Distinguished Alumni include Carrie L. Ankrom, 1996 graduate, and Hanna S. Khoury, 2011 graduate, for Outstanding Professional Achievement, and Misty Casto, 1997 graduate, for Outstanding Community Service. During the 11 a.m. ceremony, WSCO will recognize its 10,000th graduate.
During each ceremony throughout the week, including Saturday, student speakers have also been chosen to address their peers. Shelby Haney and Kari Covey will speak to the Associate Degree Nursing graduates on Tuesday. Hannah Coleman and Jessica Taylor will speak to the Practical Nursing graduates on Wednesday. Caitlee Jackson will address the Med Lab Tech graduates and Alyse Giffin and Mallory Roe will speak before the Physical Therapist Assistant graduates on Thursday. On Friday, Aaron Lopreste will address Respiratory Therapy graduates.
Saturday’s student commencement speakers will be Abby Wigal for the 9:30 am Arts & Sciences ceremony. Don Jox will speak during the 11 am Business Technology ceremony and Erik Miehrig will speak that the 12:30 pm Engineering & Industrial Technology, Public Services, Health & Wellness ceremony.
