MARIETTA— Washington State College of Ohio is celebrating Miami University’s prestigious rankings that US News and World Report recently shared. The accolades translate to big benefits for WSCO’s students enrolled in any of its engineering technology programs.
In the world of higher education, it may seem unusual for one institution to be cheering for another, but Miami’s incredible engineering rankings are great news for WSCO students. Miami ranks near the top both overall and among national public universities in undergraduate engineering programs no doctorate – Mechanical (fifth among public universities excluding military institutions, 17th overall), Undergraduate Engineering Programs No Doctorate (seventh among public universities excluding military institutions, 30th overall).
The excitement is related to the articulation agreement that the two institutions penned more than 20 years ago. The partnership allows students who graduate from the electrical or advanced manufacturing programs at Washington State to go on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Miami. These students, who primarily enroll in Miami’s electro machincal or robotics engineering programs take a combination of online courses from Miami, along with some labs and additional general education classes that are taught in person at Washington State.
“Miami’s engineering program has a longstanding reputation for being among the best, but these amazing rankings take graduates to the next level when it comes to employability. Business and industry leaders take notice when they see Miami on an engineer’s resume. With their new rankings, graduates will garner even more attention,” explained WSCO Assistant Professor in Industrial Technology Chris Carpenter.
