MARIETTA—Alpha Rho Gamma, Washington State College of Ohio’s chapter of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), recently inducted 18 new members.
The inductees of the college’s PTK chapter, Alpha Rho Gamma, include Karina Caldwell, Karissa Caldwell, Josie Joy, Denise Lee, Steven Lee, Frederick McKitrick, Lori Morgan, Bella Padovini, America Pellett, Ashur Pritchett, Hanna Richmond, Kaylee Smith, Miracle Sunderman, Cali Swartz, Rainey Tiegs, Maquelah Walker, Ian Winters, and Riley Zwick.
During the induction event, the group honored Judy Bonnette who was recently named to the Phi Theta Kappa International College Honor Society Alumni Hall of Fame. The distinction was given in recognition of her support of WSCO’s PTK chapter over the past 10 years.
For the 12th consecutive year, Alpha Rho Gamma achieved five-star status, which is PTK’s highest designation. The chapter is currently working on two service projects: one involves service work at the Washington County Home, and the other is helping to raise money for the PTK Scholarships through the WSCO Foundation.
Alpha Rho Gamma’s officers for 2023-2024 are Stacy Jarvis, President; Helena Hardy, Vice President of Scholarship; and Frederick McKitrick, Vice President of Leadership. Jarvis was also recently nominated for PTK President of the Ohio Region. Elections will be held in March 2024.
As has been tradition for many years, the induction ceremony was dedicated to Eve, Inc., a local domestic violence shelter. Students brought personal care items that were then donated to the non-profit organization.
PTK is the official honor society for two-year colleges with more than 3.5 million members in the US and 10 sovereign nations. The organization recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. Memberships are extended to students who complete at least 12 credit hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5.
