MARIETTA— Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) inducted two members into the Lambda Beta Society, the national honor society for the profession of respiratory care.
Makayla Mossor and Trenton Allman are now official members of the chapter that was established last year. To qualify for membership, respiratory care students must have completed 50% of their respiratory care courses and hold a GPA that ranks in the top 25% of the respiratory class. The individual must be of good character and be nominated by faculty or officers from a Lambda Beta chapter.
“The Lambda Beta Honor Society induction is a testament to the dedication of our students and a promise for the future of respiratory care,” said Adrienne Hellinger, WSCO’s Director of Respiratory Therapy and Lambda Beta advisor. “While these students currently enhance the reputation of Washington State College of Ohio, their dedication and pursuit of knowledge will one day enhance their own careers and elevate the organizations fortunate enough to have them as part of their team.”
Sponsored and maintained by the National Board of Respiratory Care, the Lambda Beta Society was formed in 1986 to promote, recognize and honor scholarship, scholarly achievement, service, and character of students, graduates, and faculty members of the respiratory care profession. Lambda (Λ) is the Greek letter “L”, and beta (Β) is the Greek letter “B”, which symbolizes life and breath – the foundations of the profession. WSCO’s Lambda Beta chapter is one of more than 150 chapters established in respiratory care programs across the United States.
