MARIETTA—Washington State College of Ohio’s chapter of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recently held its induction ceremony and welcomed 19 new members.
The inductees of the college’s PTK chapter, Alpha Rho Gamma, include Anna Antill, Katara Brown, Jericha Cuthbertson, Saundra McGary Eaton, Sylvia Erdelyi, Mackenzie Hess, Tess Huffman, Audrey Johnson, Maggie Johnson, Melissa Lemmings, Evan Massell, Vivian Muntz, Sophia Novo, Korey-Robert Oakes, Sarah Sanderson, Kimberly Tatro, Maquelah Walker, Brenna Weidner, and Ethan Wiggers.
The club is currently working on two service projects, including finalizing its Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine donation drive and a fundraiser that will allow them to provide financial assistance to parents who have children involved in Mid-Ohio Valley youth sports.
Earlier this year, Alpha Rho Gamma, for the 11th consecutive year, achieved five-star status, which is PTK’s highest designation. Additionally, the chapter was named Most Distinguished Chapter in the Eastern District of the Ohio Region and won the Theme Award for its Honors in Action Project.
Alpha Rho Gamma’s officers for 2022-2023 are Stacy Jarvis— President, Candice Runnion— Vice President of Service, Loralen Morgan— Vice President of Fundraising, and Ethan Gault— Vice President of Scholarship.
PTK is the official honor society for two-year colleges with more than 3.5 million members in the US and 10 sovereign nations. The organization recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. Memberships are extended to students who complete at least 12 credit hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5.
