MARIETTA, OHIO —Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) recently recognized graduates of its Peace Officer Basic Academy (POBA).
Graduates included: Brent Basford— Caldwell, OH; Roy Beaver— Marietta, OH; Heath Hill— Reno, OH; Alexander Lightfritz— Marietta, OH; Devon Moss— Marietta, OH; Noah Ramsay— Powhatan, OH; Ryan Simoniette— Little Hocking, OH; Kade Van Mol— Saint Marys, WV; and Dakota Walters— Caldwell, OH.
The college is currently accepting applications for the academy that will begin on August 15. Classes will run during the day Monday through Friday with some weekends and will conclude in December. Students who enroll in the academy are eligible to apply for a short-term certificate grant valued up to $2,000. The funds will be awarded to those impacted by COVID-19 with financial need.
The first point of entry into the academy is passing the state-mandated physical training test. Two test dates are available. June 18 at 9 a.m. and June 25 at 9 a.m. Tests are administered at the Williamstown High School track.
