MARIETTA, OHIO —The Washington State College of Ohio Alpha Rho Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society recently held its annual induction ceremony and welcomed 44 new members. The event was also an opportunity to celebrate its newly established scholarship.
PTK is the national honor society of community colleges with a mission to recognize academic achievement of college students and provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.

During the ceremony, the chapter honored Faye Treadway, WSCO’s Custodian Grounds Supervisor, for her years of service and support. In addition to the recognition, the chapter established an academic scholarship in her name.
Earlier this year, Alpha Rho Gamma, for the 11th consecutive year, achieved five-star status, which is PTK’s highest designation. “The chapter has never failed to the region in all its endeavors. The Ohio Region owes much gratitude to this chapter for all of its success and support,” said David Sigmund, Ohio’s PTK Regional Coordinator.
Additionally, during the Ohio PTK Regional Awards Ceremony held in the spring, the chapter was named Most Distinguished Chapter in the Eastern District of the Ohio Region and also won the Theme Award for its Honors in Action Project.
Alpha Rho Gamma’s new officers are Stacy Jarvis – President, Candice Runnion – Vice President of Service, and Loralen Morgan – Vice President of Fundraising.
