MARIETTA, OHIO — Following a special session held Monday night, the Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Sarah Parker as the Interim President, effective July 1, 2024.
Parker, who currently serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs, will undertake the interim presidency while continuing to fulfill her responsibilities as the Chief Academic Officer. She joined the Administrative team at WSCO in July 2018, following the retirement of her predecessor, Dr. Mark Nutter.
WSCO President Dr. Vicky Wood said, “Sarah understands the valuable role WSCO serves to our local workforce and community. As she steps into the interim position, I have full confidence she will continue to lead with a strong vision and dedication to academic excellence and the success of our students.”
The decision to appoint Dr. Parker as the Interim President comes after careful consideration by the Board of Trustees. “With her extensive experience and dedication to Washington State, Dr. Parker embodies the values and vision that will guide the institution during this transitional period. Her leadership will ensure continuity and stability as the college undergoes the search process for our eighth president,” said Board Chair Tyler Wilcox.
Additionally, the Board of Trustees has announced plans to initiate the presidential search process. The nationwide search will be aimed at identifying candidates who possess the qualities and qualifications necessary to lead Washington State into the future. The Board of Trustees plans to hire a search firm to assist with the presidential search.
